DIGEST SIZE MAGAZINES
Very popular during the '50s & '60s these are usually full of pictures and sensational (but brief) stories. Average size is approximately 5 1/2" x 7 1/2" although there is some variation and the older issues tend to be slightly larger than the more modern issues.
Issues from the '50s to early '60s tend to be more a 'news' type format with interesting features on all kinds of subjects. Most have a well known celebrity FC and long pictorials of the most popular models of the day.
By the mid 60s most had devolved into nothing more than an excuse to print pictures of naked women. Stories were superficial and nearly always sex themed. Many photos were either anonymous or the names given were made up or nonsensical. Pictorials tend to be shorter or consist of random miscellaneous pics.
Most of these had disappeared by the 70s but a few continued until the middle of the decade.
