Beginning in 1982 the "Best Of" series was published 4 times per year on a seasonal basis - the issues were dated as Spring, Summer, Fall,Winter. To accomodate this unusual sytsemyou will find the issues listed by year followed by a dot and then a numeral from 1 to 4 indicating the season (1= Spring, 4= Winter). This allows the books to be presented in true chronological order without using or being confused with a normal monthly listing (which is the year followed by a dash, and then the number from 01 to 12 corresponding to the month in question).
The quartely issues were subtitled "Friends & Lovers Amateur Erotic Photo Contest" (from now on abbreviated as F&LAEPC), "GIRLS/GIRLS" and "LETTERS" among others. This system was continued thru the end of 1988.
The first issue of 1989was dated as 1989, #1 and indicated a publication frequency of 5 times/year. This unusual system has continued to the present and has been expanded so that frequently there are more than 12 issues per year. For that reason the issues will be listed first by year then by a "#" symbol andthen the number of the issue from 01 to whatever it happens to be. Again, this is done to present the issues in true chronological order and to differentiate them from normal monthly listings.
Beginning with the issue of 1989, #2 the magazines switch from a square, glued binding to being stapled.
